Pair # 16!! And 2012 goals revisited!

    I can't believe that I forgot to blog about this very last pair of socks I finished on Dec 30.  My goal was to finished 15 pairs of socks for 2012 and I surpassed it by 1 pair!  Here is Sarsaparilla socks from the Cookie A Sock Club:

I used Hazel Knits Artisan (club yarn!!) in Salted Caramels.  Someone sugested that they look like pretzels so I named the project Salted Pretzel!

It had been a while since I finished any socks so I'm really glad.  I'd have to say they are my first love for knitting.  I have many pairs of socks I haven't worn yet since I've finished and even blocked them.  I guess they will be handy for last minute gifts! Here are the 16 pairs of socks I finished in 2012!

Out of these 16 pairs, you will notice that I used my favorite brands of sock yarns:  (there's really no sense in trying new yarns when I know what I like to knit with!)

4 in Socks That Rock

7 in Hazel Knits

3 in Bugga (Sanguine Gryphon, Cephalopod, or Verdant Gryphon)

and 2 in new yarns:  Dream in Color Smooshy with Cashmere and Plucky Knitter Primo.

So here were the goals set in January 2012...

• 15 pairs of socks (15 pairs in 2011). At least 6 from the 3 Sock clubs I  belong to in 2012 (5 in 2011).  At least 7 variegated (7 in 2011).  At least 4 from the Socktopus Book (my KAL with Jennifer).  RESULT:  16 pairs.  6 are club patterns (though not all from 2012!!), 4 from variegated yarn, 1 from the Socktopus Book, and 1 from another book I own!

• 12 shawls (7 in 2011).  RESULT:  Started 9 shawls, completed 5.

• 12 projects using yarn from SG and/or new companies, Cephalopod Yarns or Verdant Gryphon (9 in 2011). RESULT:  6

• Try at least 5 new fingering weight yarns for shawls/socks (6 in 2011).  RESULT:  2

• 6 knitted items that will be gifted (5 in 2011).  RESULT:  16

• 125 mitered squares for my mitered squares sock yarn blanket (124 in 2011).  RESULT: 142 mitered squares.

• 60 hexiflats for Bee Keeper’s Quilt (24 in 2011 - only started in September 2011).  RESULT:  ditched the Bee Keeper's Quilt and started the Crocheted Hexagon blanket.  Completed 165 hexagons.

Sometime in the next week, I will plan out the 2012 goals.  I can tell you that I'm up to no good as I've cast on a pair of socks and my sights are set on 2 other pairs.  For the 26 pair plunge, I'm have to finish 17 pairs in the next 6 months!  Wanna help?

Pretty collage of socks! And no, I don't want to help with your 22pp. I have 18 pairs left to knit myself by June 30! I probably should get cracking on that. 3 pairs a month, we can each do that!
